200px-Diddy Kong
Diddy Kong made his first appearance in 1994 as Donkey Kong's side-kick in Donkey Kong Country for the SNES. Since then, he has starred in numerous Donkey Kong games, his own Diddy Kong Racing games and Mario sports titles. He wears a red Nintendo hat. He appears in 32 games.

He lives on Donkey Kong Island in the Kongo Jungle, and is identified by his red hat, which has a Nintendo logo on it, and shirt. He is described as the "nephew wannabe" of Donkey Kong in the Donkey Kong Country manual and occasionally as a chimpanzee, despite his tail. He is noted for his ability to use a jet pack fashioned from a barrel and a pair of wooden guns that shoot peanuts.

In his games, Diddy can be viewed as the equivalent to Luigi from the Mario franchise- less powerful than the main protagonist Donkey, but a faster and more flexible character in terms of movement.
