Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is a downloadable title on Xbox Live, PSN, WiiWare, and IOS. Sonic 4 takes place after the events of Sonic 3 and Knuckles, and Sonic CD. Sonic explores new zones, believing that Dr. Robotnik was defeated after the death-eggs destruction, but did he really?

Sonic returns after the events of Sonic 3 and Knuckles, foiling Dr.Robotnik's plans for world domination once again, and destroyed his ultimate weapon, the Death Egg. Sonic seperated from his friends, Tails and Knuckles and began to explore new zones on his own. Sonic's new adventure begins in Splash Hill Zone, were Sonic comes across familiar foes from the distant past. Dr. Robotnik or Dr. Eggman as they call him now has returned, apparently surviving the destruction of the Death Egg, and now he is hungry for revenge against Sonic.

Dr. Eggman creates a whole new arsenal of his best Badniks to prevent Sonic from stopping his new plan for world domination.

Sonic's arsenal of moves for this game are slightly different from the classic titles, for instance Sonic retains his Homing Attack from the 3-d games, which makes a very awkward transition to 2.5-d. Sonic's other moves are still intact like the classic Spin-Dash, and the Super Sonic transformation after

The Giant Ring

collecting 50 rings while having all seven Chaos Emeralds in posession. The objective of each Zone, is to complete its three acts and defeat the final

The Homing Attack

boss at the end. Sonic also has the chance to jump through the Giant Ring at the end of the act if he has 50 Rings with him, which allows him to travel to the special stage.

The Special Stage, like the classic series lets Sonic attempt to get the Chaos Emerald at the end. If Sonic collects all seven, then he can transform into Super Sonic. Also special to Sonic 4 is Time-Trial Mode, where the player can complete an act in the fastest time possible, and can record their time to Xbox-Live Leaderboards to compete against their friends.
